grand-cherokee, jeep. DonReeves June 25, 2020, 2:24pm 1. Dear Car Talk, I recently bought a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the auto start/stop feature. This feature is driving me crazy. Every time the driver initially starts the car the feature has to be turned off if you don’t want to use it. I know it’s supposed to save gas and reduce
Bad: 2018 Ford Escape Ecoboost rental- The auto start/stop on this car was awful. It turns the engine off, it also turns off the power steering and does not restart the engine if you try to turn the steering wheel. It doesn't restart the engine or keep it on when the AC is running. It's slow to restart and not what I'd call "smooth". The ECU (engine control module) controls the auto start-stop function. To operate the auto start-stop system properly, the ECU takes inputs from the crankshaft position sensor, which tells it when the engine is idling, and then from the wheel speed sensor, which tells it the car is stationary and lastly, from the brake pedal switch, which indicates you won’t be moving the car soon. Every so many years, the most idiotic ideas come around and are worked into car designs. Vinyl roof, start disabled until seat belt is buckled and those traveling shoulder belts over the top of the door window that got grease on the shoulder of your clothes or Cadillac's 4-6-8 engine to mention a few. The start/stop feature is just as stupid. The stop/start unavailable warning also appears because of these parameters: Open door or hood. Unfastened seatbelt. Heated windshield. Climbing on a high slope. Active parking assistant. Overloaded ventilation. Faulty battery sensor. Faulty air mass sensor. Read the owner’s manual or guide to learn more about your car’s stop/start system. The rumors that Start-Stop technology is bad for engines are not baseless– in the 1980’s and 90’s, Autostop technology inflicted major wear and tear on car’s engines. While technology has improved significantly since then, there is still no significant evidence that Autostop harms or benefits the engine. hallux. Yes, press the always-present button on the screen to disable the system. It should be noted that if the temperature inside the car rises (or falls) too much while stopped the engine will restart to 'recover'. There are several parameters that must be met in order for the engine to stop or remain stopped.

Once the Jeep’s engine is warmed up and the interior is within a range of set temperature the engine will enable ESS. If ESS is enabled when the Jeep comes to a complete stop and the brake is pushed the engine will automatically shut off, lights, HVAC, radio, and all accessories will remain on. As soon as the brake pedal is released the

The case was dismissed when a judge ruled Audi's owner's manuals clearly say the Start-Stop system "may turn off the engine before the car comes to a complete stop." Case Filed July 2020. The lawsuit wanted refunds for the purchase price of the vehicles for class members, plus compensation for overpaying and for loss of values. Class Vehicles
The auto start/stop feature disables itself for a multitude of reasons such as battery level, outside temp below 38 degrees (I see your dash says 82 so that is not it) air condition demand and a 100 other reasons. Turn off the a/c when you shut it off and see if it behaves the same and if not take it in and have it scanned, there may be a code

Start the engine and let it idle. Note the reading on the gauge. As a general rule of thumb, backpressure should be less than 1.5 psi at idle. Consult a repair manual or repair database to determine the specification for your vehicle. Increase engine speed to about 2,500 rpm and note the reading on the gauge.

The Auto Stop/Start button in my 2020 X5 M5.0i has stopped working. When I press it, it does not disable the Auto Stop/Start functionality, it does not click (and provide haptic feedback) like the other buttons, and it does not light up to show that Auto Stop/Start has been disabled. The buttons directly above it all seem to work perfectly..
Wear and tear can occur as a result of bad oil because it contains thicker and less lubrication qualities than good oil. As a result, the oil pressure is reduced and the oil filter becomes clogged. It is possible that this will result in the car stalling. As soon as the oil pressure sensor reading is obtained, the ECU will stop starting the engine.
